Ready for a break from all the politics?

With just two more sleeps until the election, all the politicians and media are going crazy. With Jeremy Corbyn calling for Theresa May to resign as Prime Minister over cuts to police numbers, last night the media was going mad over the car crash interview with Diane Abbott, this morning it’s the car crash interview with Boris Johnson – It’s all we are hearing about at the moment, politics, politics, politics… So if you’re ready for a break, you’ve come to the right place!

This weekend saw the Manchester One Love concert in aid of the Manchester terror attack. Which was a great gesture and an entertaining evening. Since the concert, drama has unfolded between the Gallagher brothers (again) and Piers Morgan has issued an APOLOGY to Ariana Grande (who would have ever thought Piers would have got it wrong?!).

This morning bosses have confirmed that the tiger that killed Rosa King, a keeper at a Cambridgeshire zoo, will not be put down. Rosa King was attacked by the animal at Hamerton Zoo on 29 May, after it entered an enclosure she was in.
The decision not to destroy the animal has been “fully supported” by her family.

Stick to the Speed Limit!

The Queen celebrated her 91st birthday on 21st April. Her majesty is the oldest monarch to have reigned in Britain.

Jeremy Corbyn will tell trade unionists today (Mon 24th April) that if Labour wins the general election, they’ll overturn what he calls the ‘vicious Tory Trade Union Act’. The laws brought in by David Cameron meant that for any strike action, there had to be a 50% turnout at the ballot for the action to be legal.

Tougher fines for motorists who drive well above the speed limit are set to come into force from today. Drivers caught doing 41mph in a 20mph zone, 51mph in a 30mph zone, 66mph in a 40mph or 101mph on a motorway will face penalties starting from 150% of their weekly income – up 50% on the previous level. The new regulations apply in England and Wales.

Prepare yourselves for March 2017!

Happy Halloween!
Every year we wear scary outfits, bob for apples and carve pumpkins – but why?
The Americanised (Americanized?) Halloween that we experience now actually originated in the Celtic fringes of Britain, and was adapted by Christian traditions, immigrants’ conventions and an insatiable desire for sweets.
The word comes from ‘Hallowed evening’, and is the day before All Hallows Day – also known as All Saints’ Day.
You can view the full history here.

As the FBI drama unwraps in America,
we ask how did two candidates with historically low favourability ratings rise to the top of their parties?
Well, it goes back to the ‘Primary Election’ – Primary elections are one means by which a political party or a political alliance nominates candidates for an upcoming general election or by-election. In both parties, only half the Primary voted for either Hillary or Donald, compared to 2012 when nearly 90% voted for Barak Obama. Here is a video for a further explanation.

Businesses should get ready now for the introduction of the new 12-sided pound coin, the Treasury has said. The Treasury is urging firms to adapt their equipment and train their staff in preparation for the arrival of the new coin in March 2017.
