Who is this qualification for?
This QCF qualification is a specialist vocational skills programmes that develops Occupational Competence against National Occupational Standards, and provides knowledge, understanding and practical skills training for a specific Construction Industry skills set. This qualification is suitable for learners who have already completed generic construction skills training or specialist skills training at a lower level. Learners can be entering into their first employment or more experienced learners who wish to build upon their skills set.
What prior qualifications/levels of attainment does a learner need to take this qualification?
The minimum age for this qualification is 16. There are no formal entry requirements.
What does this qualification cover?
The qualification comprises two Mandatory Groups, which cover a variety of Trowel Occupation (bricklaying) competences and generic work skills, including:
- Setting out Masonry Structures in the Workplace
- Erecting Masonry Structures in the Workplace
- Placing and Finishing Non-specialist Concrete in the Workplace
- Maintaining Slate and Tile Roofing in the Workplace
What could this qualification lead to?
Will the qualification lead to employment, and if so, in which job role and at what level?
The qualification provides relevant occupational competence to enable learners to gain employment within the Construction Sector. Job roles include Masonry Technician and Building Technician, Roofer and Tiler.
Will the qualification support progression to further learning, if so, what to?
Learners can progress onto other qualifications such as the NOCN Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Skills, the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations or Level 3 Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision.
