The PASMA technical committee held a virtual meeting on 1 June, where they discussed their thoughts on the new European standard for low-height mobile working platforms that is currently in draft.
The draft has been put to an internal ballot and each member of CEN committee TC 53, which includes the UK, has a vote.
It’s likely this internal ballot will lead to changes in the draft before the standard moves to the final formal ballot.
PASMA technical committee members have had their say and we will represent their views to the BSI technical committee, B/514, that decides how the UK will vote.
Members were concerned that the standard does not currently require these products to be supplied with double guardrails. One possible outcome is that the UK could ask for the standard to include a note confirming that following this standard is not enough to comply with UK law. This is known as an ‘A-deviation’.
