“Armies of Stupid”

Keep Your Cool Guys!

The big news this week was last nights first 2016 US presidential debate. For those who had an early night, you may have missed Trump losing his cool.

Goaded by Clinton and pressed hard by moderator Lester Holt, the Republican nominee angrily defended his record against charges of racism, sexism and tax avoidance for much of the 90-minute clash.

Trump then went on to hit Clinton on trade and her political record – issues that have helped him draw level in recent polls and may yet dominate the election!

The whole thing was very confrontational, as you would expect, but at times got rather personal (and a tad childish) – something much different to what we would see at a UK political debate 😉

You can view a full review of the debate by clicking here or watch it on Youtube.

This debate was the first of three, so we look forward to seeing if things will turn around next time!

See you in four years!

There was joy and sadness on Sunday evening as the closing cermony of the Paralympics ended.

If you have been under a rock for the last couple of weeks, you may not be aware team GB won 12% of the total number of gold medals available – the best since way back in 1968! Finishing second in the medal table behind China, GB set 49 Paralympic and 27 world records. Both the oldest (Anne Dunham) and youngest (Abby Kane) competitors on the team claimed medals, and 11 sports won gold medals with a record-equalling 15 securing at least one medal.

You can view the full medal table here.

So Well Done team GB! Now the challenge will be to maintain momentum and rise to the occasion once again in 2020!

Get your giggle on!

If it’s your first day back to work today after the bank holiday weekend, you may be experiencing the post bank holiday blues! According to many psychologists the best way to make yourself feel a little brighter is to laugh. Either watch a funny YouTube clip right now or force yourself to laugh. By forcing yourself to laugh, you’ll set off a chemical reaction in your brain that will ensure your fake laughter turns into real laughter in the space of a few minutes.

Here is a funny YouTube health and safety related clip 🙂

Alternatively you could give MECsafe a call and to enquire about a course. Attending one of MECsafe’s courses will add value to you and your organisation, it will further your skills and develop your career. And certainly will get rid of those post bank holiday blues!

IPAF introduce E-Learning Module for Operator

The familiar IPAF’s Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator training programme will be taking a giant step forward with the introduction of  a new eLearning tool available from 1 February 2016 in the UK. After two years of research, testing and significant investment, the new learning materials are set to deliver flexibility and interactivity, with the same emphasis on practical training.

For the first time, trainees have an option of completing the theory module of the operator course via an interactive eLearning platform. They can complete the eLearning module online – anytime, anywhere, on most any device, at a pace to suit them.

Trainees opting to attend our training centre for the full instructor-led theory course will also benefit from the same state-of-the-art graphics, animations and learning techniques. They will continue to interact with an experienced instructor and fellow trainee operators in a classroom setting.

Whether trainees choose to complete the theory part via the eLearning module or the instructor-led course, all trainees must still pass a supervised theory assessment at one of our audited and approved training centres. Trainees will then proceed to the practical session and must pass a supervised practical assessment conducted by one of Kentec’s IPAF-certified instructor. Successful trainees will receive a Smart PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) and Certificate as proof of operator training.
